Sea Control Squadron 33 (VS-33), also known as the "World Famous and Internationally Traveled Screwbirds" or just "Screwbirds", was established in April of 1960 flying the S-2 Tracker. In 1975 they transitioned to the S-3A Viking and in 1991 they would transition again to the S-3B Viking. They conducted combat actions in support of Operation Dessert Storm, Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. On 30 June 2006 the Screwbirds were disestablished.
