The Golden Warriors of VFA-87 began June 1986 as VA-87 flying the A-7 Corsair II. In 1986 they transitioned to the F/A-18 Hornet which they flew until 2014. Currently they fly the F/A-18E Super Hornet. They have supported in multiple different operations to include Vietnam, Grenada, Operation Allied Force, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve.
