The Rampagers of VFA-83 was started as a reserve squadron in April of 1950. Less than a year later than were called to active duty flying the F4U Corsair. Over their years they have flown various aircraft to include the F9F Panther, A-4 Skyhawk, A-7 Corsair II, F/A-18 Hornet and today the F/A-18E Super Hornet. They have supported Desert Storm, Operations Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve.
