The Blue Blasters of VFA-34 were commissioned as VF-20 on October 15, 1943. Their initial aircraft was the F6F Hellcat. Over the years they flew various aircraft to include the F9F Panther, F7U Cutlass, A-4 Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder and currently the F/A-18E Super Hornet. They have served multiple combat theaters to include WWII, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
