The Argonauts of VFA-147 were established on February 1, 1967 flying the A-7 Corsair II which they flew util 1989. After the Corsair II they flew the F/A-18 Hornet, F/A-18E Super Hornet and currently the F-35C Lightning II. They were the Navy's first deployable F-35C squadron. They have supported actions in the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom .
