The Tophatters of VFA-14 were first formed in 1919 making them the oldest active squadron in the US Navy. They have been assigned numerous missions types, such as scouting, fighter, attack and bombing, flying aircraft such as the SBD Dauntless, F4U Corsair, F3H Demon, F-4 Phantom, F-14 Tomcat and currently the F/A-18E Super Hornet. They have served in multiple US engagements to include WWII, Vietnam, Grenada, The Gulf War, as well as Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. "The Oldest and the Boldest"
