The Eagles of VFA-115 were established on October 10, 1942. Their initial aircraft was the TBF Avenger. After that the would fly the AD/A-1 Skyraider, followed by the A-6 Intruder, F/A-18C Hornet and today the F/A-18E Super Hornet. The Eagles supported actions in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, as well as Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
