The Diamondbacks of VFA-102 were established on July 1, 1955. Their first aircraft was the F2H Banshee. After that the flew the F4D Skyray, the F-4 Phantom, the F-14 Tomcat and currently the F/A-18F Super Hornet. They have supported operations in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
