VF-92 Silver Kings Squadron Shirt
VF-92 Silver Kings Squadron Shirt
Honor the legacy of VF-92, the Silver Kings, and their combat history in U.S. Naval Aviation.
Established in 1952, VF-92 served through the Cold War and Vietnam era while operating several generations of U.S. Navy fighters. Known as the Silver Kings, the squadron flew aircraft including the F4U Corsair, F9F Cougar, F-8 Crusader, and F-4 Phantom II, ultimately becoming closely associated with the Phantom during its combat deployments to Southeast Asia.
One of the squadron's most memorable achievements came on May 10, 1972, when VF-92's LT Curt Dose and LCDR James McDevitt shot down a North Vietnamese MiG-21 while flying an F-4J Phantom II from USS Constellation. The victory came during one of the most intense days of air-to-air combat of the Vietnam War.
Featuring an F-4 Phantom II on the front and the historic VF-92 Silver Kings patch on the back, this shirt honors the aircraft, aviators, aircrew, and maintainers behind the squadron's proud U.S. Navy fighter legacy.
