VF-142 Squadron Shirt
Fighter Squadron 142 (VF-142), known as the Ghostriders was established on 24 August 1948 flying the F4U Corsair. It was initially VF-193 until 1963 when it was re-designated to VF-142. In addition to the Corsair they flew the F2H Banshee, F3H Demon, F-4 Phantom II and the F-14 Tomcat. The Ghostriders conducted two deployments in support of the Korean War, seven deployments for the Vietnam War and one for Operation Desert Shield. In April of 1995 the squadron was disestablished due to budget cuts.
