VA-65 Tigers Squadron Shirt
VA-65 Tigers Squadron Shirt
Honor the legacy of VA-65, the Tigers, and nearly five decades of U.S. Naval Aviation history.
Established as Torpedo Squadron 74 (VT-74) on May 1, 1945, the squadron passed through several designations before becoming Attack Squadron 65 (VA-65) on July 1, 1959. Known as the Tigers, VA-65 flew the A-1 Skyraider before transitioning to the A-6 Intruder in 1965, beginning a long association with one of the Navy's premier all-weather attack aircraft.
The Tigers flew combat missions during the Vietnam War and served throughout the Cold War from U.S. Navy aircraft carriers around the world. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, VA-65's A-6E Intruders struck targets in Iraq and Kuwait as well as Iraqi naval forces. VA-65 was disestablished on March 31, 1993.
Featuring an A-6 Intruder on the front and the historic VA-65 Tigers patch on the back, this shirt honors the aircraft, aviators, aircrew, and maintainers who carried the Tigers' legacy through decades of U.S. Navy attack aviation.
