VA-35 Squadron Shirt
Attack Squadron 35 (VA-35), the Black Panthers, were established on 1 July 1934 as VB-3B at Naval Air Station Norfolk. It was redesignated multiple times until 1950 when they became VA-35. The Black Panthers would first fly the Martin BM, followed by the SB2U Vindicator, the SBD Dauntless which they flew throughout World War II, the A-1 Skyraider, and the A-6 Intruder which they flew for 30 years. VA-35 supported operations in World War II, the Korean War, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Storm. During World War II, VA-35 then VB-3, was instrumental at the Battle of Midway sinking two Japanese carriers. On 31 January 1995, the Navy disestablished the squadron.
