S-3 Viking FLY NAVY Shirt

Designed by Lockheed as a carrier-based anti-submarine warfare aircraft, the S-3 Viking entered fleet service in 1974 and became a key part of the U.S. Navy's Cold War carrier air wing. Equipped with advanced radar, sonar, sonobuoys, and magnetic anomaly detection systems, the Viking was built to locate and track submarines across vast stretches of ocean.

As its mission evolved, the S-3 took on surface surveillance, precision targeting, and aerial refueling, becoming the carrier air wing's primary organic tanker after the retirement of the KA-6D Intruder. The Viking remained a valuable multi-mission aircraft until its withdrawal from fleet service in 2009.
