P2V Neptune FLY NAVY Shirt

Developed by Lockheed as a long-range maritime patrol aircraft, the P2V Neptune became a mainstay of U.S. Navy patrol aviation during the early Cold War. Neptune crews flew long-range reconnaissance, maritime patrol, and anti-submarine warfare missions around the world, helping the Navy locate and track potential threats across vast stretches of ocean.

The Neptune also established an extraordinary reputation for endurance. In 1946, the famous P2V-1 “Truculent Turtle” flew more than 11,000 miles nonstop from Australia to Ohio, setting a world distance record that stood for 16 years. The P2V remained an important part of Navy patrol aviation until newer aircraft such as the P-3 Orion took over its missions.
