Collection: VAQ-209 Star Warriors

The Star Warriors of VAQ-209 were established on October 1, 1977, as the Naval Air Reserve's electronic attack squadron. For decades, the squadron operated the EA-6B Prowler from the Washington, D.C., area, providing the Navy Reserve with a dedicated airborne electronic attack capability and augmenting active-duty forces around the world.

Flying the EA-6B, the Star Warriors supported operational deployments and combat missions, including service in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. As the Navy transitioned away from the Prowler, VAQ-209 relocated from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, and began converting to the EA-18G Growler in 2013. The squadron completed the transition in 2014, bringing the Navy Reserve's electronic attack capability into the Growler era.

Today, VAQ-209 continues to fly the EA-18G Growler as the Navy Reserve's electronic attack squadron. The Star Warriors train and deploy alongside active-duty and joint forces, providing electronic attack and suppression of enemy air defenses capabilities while maintaining a ready Reserve force capable of supporting operations worldwide.
